I mean, let me get a little more specific, STAR WARS: EPISODE IV – A NEW HOPE, or the original movie that started it all, is coming back to theatres in 2027. The reason? The movie’s 50th Anniversary.
Sounds like this news was announced on the Star Wars website. But where it was reportedly set to hit in April of 2027, looks like we’re going to get the release on February 19, 2027.
But enough about all of that, I’m sure you’re wondering, “Is this going to be the theatical cut, or ‘Special Edition?’”
Well friends, I’m stroked to share that it’s being reported that this print is a “newly restored” version of the original 1977 release! Many speculating that it’ll be the same version shown at the London Film Festival, where Kathleen Kennedy had commented that screening was not “illegal”.
I personally can’t be more excited about this. I hope it has a strong turnout, and Lucasfilm will realize that there is a strong desire for a home video release of the original, pre-special edition trilogy.
But one can only hope.
It’s definitely going to be a long wait until 2027!
