It’s no secret that DC movies have been some hit & miss outings, and currently in transition, with the upcoming universe being planned by James Gunn and Peter Safran. But one of the last outings of the old DCEU, we FINALLY got a trailer for BLUE BEETLE… which really feels like it was announced several FanDomes ago… you know, when Warner Bros. and DC Comics still did FanDome…
…BUT NEVERMIND ALL THAT, because this movie looks FUN AS HELL!
Check out the trailer below.
Recent college grad Jaime Reyes returns home full of aspirations for his future, only to find that home is not quite as he left it. As he searches to find his purpose in the world, fate intervenes when Jaime unexpectedly finds himself in possession of an ancient relic of alien biotechnology: the Scarab. When the Scarab suddenly chooses Jaime to be its symbiotic host, he is bestowed with an incredible suit of armor capable of extraordinary and unpredictable powers, forever changing his destiny as he becomes the Super Hero BLUE BEETLE.
Though I know of the character from the comics it’s based, I’m not familiar with the character’s history and place in the DC Comics’ universe. And with this movie looking fun as hell, I am so excited to hit this without anything to base that on. Heck, I find myself just looking forward to this movie. And I can’t say I could say that about the majority of the old DCEU movies.
But let’s talk about that for a moment. Since the trailer’s premiere, James Gunn has been gushing about the movie. Which one would hope he would, being one of the heads of the new DC Studios… but that aside, one can’t help but wonder, why gush, if it’s part of the DCEU and the upcoming DCU?
Did I tell you that #BlueBeetle rocks? Only in theaters August 18. pic.twitter.com/RnobY1Pwrk

I know, it’s confusing. Haha.
But sounds like the folks at FirstShowing.net has the answer! It’s being said that BLUE BEETLE would be disconnected from the DCEU and could be made a part of the new universe. And honestly, the interest the trailer alone has garnered in me, even if the movie half delivers, I definitely hope the franchise has a future!
