Gina Carano has been no stranger to controversy when it comes to social media, with fans of franchises she’s a part of pushing the hashtag, #FireGinaCarano. From what I can remember, initially it was in response to, what was regarded as transphobic behavior, as well as sharing right-wing beliefs that were very much in-line with falsehoods propagated by Former President Trump.
Though decision makers, like Disney, refused to comment on fandom’s initial efforts, looks like they’ve hit their goal…

This move was in response to, now deleted, Instagram Stories reportedly made on Tuesday night, likening contemporary political differences to the treatment of Jews in Nazi Germany.

“Because history is edited, most people today don’t realize that to get to the point where Nazi soldiers could easily round up thousands of Jews, the government first made their own neighbors hate them simply for being Jews. How is that any different from hating someone for their political views.”
And with that, Lucasfilm parted ways with the actress. Continuing their statement from above:
“Nevertheless, her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable.”

In addition to being let go from Lucasfilm, her management agency, UTA, has also dropped her as a client.
But what does this mean for THE MANDALORIAN? Well, one would have to imagine that her role will be recast as the character originated, Cara Dune, has become a bigger and bigger character in the series over it’s two seasons. Especially with the announcement of the show, RANGERS OF THE NEW REPUBLIC, a spin-off to THE MANDALORIAN, which many theorized would provide more of a spotlight for Cara Dune.
Either way, we got a bit of time before we find out how this ends up since THE BOOK OF BOBA-FETT will film before the 3rd season of the fan-favorite series.
