If you’re anything like me, get ready for your heart to be broken SHERLOCK fans… EW is reporting that in a recent interview with the UK edition of GQ MAGAZINE, SHERLOCK star, Benedict Cumberbach, anticipates that SHERLOCK will end with the upcoming season 4.
“It feels like the end of an era, to be honest. [Season 4] goes to a place where it will be pretty hard to follow on immediately. We never say never on the show. I’d love to revisit it, I’d love to keep revisiting it, I stand by that. But in the immediate future we all have things that we want to crack on with and we’ve made something very complete as it is, so I think we’ll just wait and see. The idea of never playing him again is really galling.”
It sounds like the star will always want to reprise the character. But it’s understandable that it is now more and more difficult with he, and Martin Freeman (Watson), becoming bigger and bigger movie stars, scheduling time for seasons is definitely a nightmare.
I’m sure, like the rest of you, here’s hoping there will be a season 5. But with the off-seasons with the show ever and ever longer, it’ll be anyone’s guess when that happens.
If it happens at all. *sigh.
