That’s right friends, AT LONG LAST the last entry in the REBUILD OF EVANGELION movies is finally coming stateside. As many otaku knows, it’s definitely been a hot minute since the third movie, and that the 4th movie hit Japan earlier this year. But for us in the states, it’s finally our turn!
But even better? Sounds like we’re getting an upgraded version of the movie of sorts. In its Comic-Con@Home panel this weekend, EVANGELION creator, Hideaki Anno, had this to say:
Creation does not have an end…
…Our staff is determined to work on projects as long as there is time. So we want to maintain the quality and improve it if time allows us…
…We stop working because of a deadline. If we have more time after the deadline, we’ll all be excited and eager to upgrade it. We wanted to show our audience the best version of our work, and since we had more time, the staff took the initiative to revise the film. This does not largely affect the content of the story itself. We upgrade it technically, so it might not be something that everyone will notice. Even so, we still want to improve the technical quality in detail.

Japanese record-breaking anime blockbuster film EVANGELION:3.0+1.01 THRICE UPON A TIME to launch exclusively on Amazon Prime Video on August 13th. To celebrate the launch, an exclusive footage of the movie is revealed in Comic-con@Home. EVANGELION:3.0+1.01 THRICE UPON A TIME is the fourth and final chapter of the new theatrical edition of Evangelion and Prime Video will also release the three previous movies, EVANGELION:1.11 YOU ARE (NOT) ALONE., EVANGELION:2.22 YOU CAN (NOT) ADVANCE., EVANGELION:3.33 YOU CAN (NOT) REDO. to fans in more than 240 countries and territories.
But when will this hit and where can you see it? Well, sounds like you’re not gonna have to wait long, EVANGELION: 3.0+1.01 THRICE UPON A TIME drops on August 13th! As to where? Near as I can tell, Amazon has the exclusive rights to this, as I can only find listings for Prime Video for stream, nothing for a Blu-Ray pre-order.
