That’s right kids, one of the best sci-fi shows out there right now, THE EXPANSE, is coming to an end. Season 5 hasn’t even dropped yet, but Amazon gave the show an early renewal for a season 6.
Sadly, the 6th season will be it’s last.
Showrunner, Naren Shankar, had this to say about the news:
The dedication and artistry of everyone who helps bring The Expanse to the screen is incredible…
Our fans are awesome, and we cannot wait to get rolling on season six.
Though sounds like one cast member won’t be returning. Cas Anvar, who played Alex (the pilot if you’re having trouble placing him), is exiting the show. Reports have the reasoning due to sexual misconduct allegations earlier this year.
It’ll definitely be interesting to see how big a part Alex plays in season 5, as well as his exit is handled in season 6.
Definitely bummed the show is coming to an end, but stoked it found a second life on Amazon. Those of you who don’t know, the show originally aired on the SYFY channel, where it aired for 3 seasons before being cancelled. But reportedly between a fan campaign, and Jeff Bezos being a huge fan of the show, it got revived for Amazon’s streaming arm. And it’s definitely been awesome to be sure.
But all good things must end, right?
Season 5 of THE EXPANSE is set to drop on Amazon on December 16th. You ready?
