Though heartbreaking, but I’m sure not a surprise to anyone, Comic-Con International has announced that a “in-person” San Diego Comic-Con has been postponed again to 2022. Again, with CCI already having announced that Wondercon would be virtual again as an “@Home” event, I’m sure this was anticipated by the fan community.
So SDCC will be @Home like last year. Check out the statement from CCI they made over Twitter below:
Like all businesses, hope the folks at CCI are doing okay. Despite the size of their events, and assumed profit, their product is events. And given the nature of that, I’m sure it’s been hard to pivot to keep going in this pandemic. So definitely wishing the folks there well.
But again, definitely heartbreaking. But really appreciate CCI wanting to keep people safe. Despite where we might be in terms of vaccinations by July, I can really appreciate the desire to consider everything, not just the business, to keep people safe.
