Yea, it’s true. Fans of THE MANDALORIAN are in a little bit of an uproar over the most recent episode of the hit Disney+ show. In Chapter 10, ‘The Passenger’, Mando takes on a charter to transport someone to a planet in order to get a lead to where other Mandalorians may be.
But the passenger, dubbed, “Frog Lady”, has some cargo. Unfertilized eggs that were the last of her line. And she needed to reach the planet in question so her husband could fertilize the eggs.
Now here’s where some of the fans outrage comes into play. During the episode, Baby Yoda became quite enamoured with the eggs, and ultimately is caught eating them throughout the episode.
Personally I thought the gag was hilarious in it’s “WTF” moment. But sounds like not all fans were into it, dropping notes like:
I’m a mom. It’s not funny at all to hear mama frog lady go into great detail about how important & beloved her eggs are to her & have to watch them get eaten on 3 separate occasions for s—s & giggles. Can’t just *one* mom get to survive AND keep her kids?
And that was just one of many notes. Though, not that Lucasfilm needed to respond in my opinion. But Lucasfilm’s Creative Manager, Phil Szostak tweeted a response:
For the record, Chapter 10 of #TheMandalorian makes it clear that the Frog Lady’s eggs are unfertilized, like the chicken eggs many of us enjoy. But obviously, chickens aren’t sentient beings and the Child eating the eggs is intentionally disturbing, for comedic effect. #StarWars
Personally I think they’ve achieved a great disturbing, comedic effect. I mean, it reminds me when the studio behind BLADE II gave a little push-back to director Guillermo del Toro, when he had Donnie Yen’s head cut in half, and as the sliced half lay on the ground, Yen blinked.
The director pushed back, and urged them to wait for reactions in screening, and the audience laughed. They loved it.
People made the separation with the dark comedy in a fantasy world. But clearly we’re not in that world anymore.
For me, THE MANDALORIAN continues to entertain for me. And is still one of the best live-action STAR WARS properties.
And if you’re like me thinking people need to relax about this, clearly Lucasfilm keeps their partners up-to-date, as Funko announced a Baby Yoda with Eggs Pop! and it’s almost as adorable as Baby Yoda himself.
Check it out below.

But yea, loved the moment, love the show, and definitely plan on ordering that Pop! Haha.
