Now, when I first saw the trailer for this, I made it no secret that the only reason I would have to see this movie was Anna Kendrick. I mean, don’t get me wrong, the movie looked funny, and I was sure I would have a good time. But by no means did the trailer give me that desire that I HAD to see this in theatres.
Sadly, I was right.
In a word, this movie was dumb. Sure, no one expected this to be a high-brow movie. But it by no means delivered any gut busting laughs either.
If you’re not familiar with the setup for this movie, 2 train wreck brothers, Mike (Adam Levine) & Dave (Zac Efron), are commanded by their parents to get their shit together for their sister’s wedding in Hawaii. So what do they do? Start a campaign to meet “nice” girls, and it ends up going viral.
Enter Alice (Anna Kendrick) and Tatiana (Aubrey Plaza). Two equally fucked up girls like Mike & Dave.
From there? A whole lot of lame jokes, and predictable plots ensue.
I mean, there were some great moments in the movie, like the massage scene with Kumail Nanjiani, but overall, this definitely feels like a movie we’ve all scene before.
If you haven’t already seen it, but want to? I’d wait for a rental. There’s nothing really screaming this needs to be seen on the big screen.
