In an action-adventure epic that spans the globe, the two go in dangerous pursuit of \u201cthe greatest treasure never found\u201d while also tracking clues that may lead to Nathan\u2019s long-lost brother.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Not gonna lie, the movie looks fun as hell. But I can&#8217;t help but wonder if this entry will overcome the &#8220;video game curse&#8221;. If you don&#8217;t know, it&#8217;s essentially the belief that every movie based on a video game sucks so much ass. And even though this movie looks fun as hell and has a great cast&#8230; I can&#8217;t help but feel like the movie was miscast. Specifically with the lead character of Nathan Drake (Tom Holland). As fans of the game know, Nathan Drake is a full blown adult with a swagger in his voice. No disrespect to Tom Holland, to whom I think is a great actor, is still a boy. With that, just doesn&#8217;t embody Nathan Drake for me. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And if the movie is as fun as the trailer looks, it would be ashame if casting expectations break the movie. I can only assume that they cast so young so that they can build a franchise, and have a bit of longevity in that regard with the age of the cast in this initial outing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And that&#8217;ll definitely be the trick, won&#8217;t it? I mean, at face value, if you&#8217;re not familiar with the games, this seems like a no-brainer, fun as hell movie outing. But if you&#8217;re familiar with the games, or even remotely aware of them, to enjoy this movie it feels like moviegoers might need to push them out of their heads &amp; take the movie as its own concept to enjoy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Definitely easier said than done to be sure. But we&#8217;ll see. I know in the meantime, being familiar with the games or not, definitely looking forward to this one. How about you?
