Goodbye CASKETT…

Looks Like “Casket” is Coming to an End…

This news has already hit the trades. But knowing that Stana Katic (Kate Beckett) and Tamala Jones (Lanie Parish) won’t be coming back to CASTLE is heartbreaking. CASTLE has been one of my favorite shows of late, and one of the few that I will make an effort to watch live, and not leave it to the DVR. Definitely sucks that the show will be losing such integral parts to the show. There are differing reports as to what happened, both from the actresses leaving, and ABC not renewing their contracts.

Me? I’m leaning to the latter. Continue reading Goodbye CASKETT…

ADULT SWIM to Bring Back ‘FLCL’?!!!

So you’ve probably heard by now that Adult Swim is bringing back FLCL in not only one, but TWO seasons, reportedly to air in late 2017 or early 2018 (Source: io9).

But I have to say, hearing this news, I was a crazy, CRAZY, mixed bag of emotions! I mean, OF COURSE I want more FOOLY COOLY (other name the original anime from Gainax is known by)!!! I mean, the original anime definitely ended on a note that more episodes could be coming. But the original six episodes were SO GOOD! And quite honestly would be quite happy if they would just leave it there.

And that last statement, admittingly, is driven by this particular writer being tired of the sheer amount of remakes, reboots, unnecessary sequels, and reimaginings in American pop-culture… Yea, I might be in that bitter fanboy camp of “Where’d all the original content go?” 😛

See, supposedly the story behind how the original anime came about was that Gainax was bored. Yep. Bored. They were between productions, and had nothing to work on. So a handful of them essentially goofed off and came up with with an INCREDIBLE and bizarre story, filled with things that shouldn’t work together, BUT DOES!

And if the io9 report is accurate, Gainax won’t even be involved. Production I.G. is taking the reigns.

So you have a fan favorite anime, the original studio is involved. And given the, what one can only infer, playful, freeflow energy that went into the original… I’m definitely worried that this follow-up won’t recapture the energy and fun I’ve enjoyed with FLCL.

But I’ve been wrong before. I hope I am now.

I mean, I’ll definitely be up when this airs… but I’ll definitely be a cautious viewer.

In the meantime, check out io9’s rundown, as well a summary of the follow-up seasons here.

Nathan Fillion Signed On for Season 8 of CASTLE

Today Entertainment Weekly reports that Castle star, Nathan Fillion, has signed on for an 8th season of the crime drama. Even though there has been no confirmation of a renewal from network ABC. But let’s be honest, even with lower ratings (which EW states is not out of the ordinary for a show that’s run this long), it’s fully expected that the network will be back when the network picks up their Fall schedule this May.

So THE WIL WHEATON PROJECT premiered on  SyFy last night… and it was just, okay. I mean, I liked the format. Though itself, nothing new. A format we’ve seen for years on E! and, shall it rest in peace, G4. Comedic commentary on events in particular niche over the last week, usually set against a greenscreened set.

Ready or Not, Here Comes More BANG!

So it’s funny, The Big Bang Theory was probably 3 or 4 seasons in, and I had never heard of it. But my fellow geek-loving friends kept telling me, “Holy shit, you haven’t seen it?!! You SHOULD! You would love it!”

So, I looked up the showtime, gave it a chance, and, well… I hated it.

I really hated it. I mean, I thought it made fun of all the stereotypes I was picked on growing up loving pop-culture with such insatiable passion. I mean, I really looked at it as sort-of the “geek” version of The Jersey Shore.

And I was done.

But I guess I gave it a second chance. And somewhere along the way, I fell in love with the show. And I can’t get enough of it. But, where am I going with all of this? Well, CBS recently announced that, whether you hate the show, or love it, it’s coming back next season.

But not just next season, it’s been renewed not for just one season, but THREE!

That’s right, The Big Bang Theory is coming back for 3 seasons, and that will take it into 10 seasons. And I couldn’t be more excited.

Are you?
