First Trailer for Luc Besson’s ‘LUCY’

You know, when I first heard about this movie, I was skeptical. But then more and more details starting coming in. Like LUC BESSON IS DIRECTING! Some of you may not think that’s a big deal, his name never really disappearing being attached to films like TAKEN, Columbiana, The Transporter, and more. But in those instances, only producing, writing, story development, or some combination of all three.

But this time he’s writing AND directing!

And the First Shot has Been Fired!

Well it’s no secret that Warner Bros. moved the release date of Batman vs. Superman, the sequel to Man of Steel, to the same weekend in 2016. Well, as part of the press tour for Captain America: Winter Soldier, the cast was asked what they thought about the move, and the response is pretty hilarious.

TAKEN Again?

Are you ready to get TAKEN again? Well, it’s happening. Looks like the studio wants a sequel to Taken 2 so much, they want to give star Liam Neeson $20 million to make it happen.

No news as to what shape the story will take. But looks like Liam Neeson, Maggie Grace, Famke Janseen, and Taken 2 director, Oliver Megaton, are all set to return.

Personally? I don’t know if I can get behind this. I mean, I love seeing Liam Neeson kick someone’s ass as much as the next movie-goer… But I was skeptical about Taken 2, though the trailers sold me on the premise, even though it was just a different person getting taken. But a third outing? Who’s left to get kidnapped? Is Liam getting kidnapped, and Famke is coming to the rescue with Maggie Grace playing her sidekick? Cause that sounds dumb.

I’ll have to check to see if Luc Besson will be back to be involved in some way… but I’m not holding my breath on this one.

Ready or Not, Here Comes More BANG!

So it’s funny, The Big Bang Theory was probably 3 or 4 seasons in, and I had never heard of it. But my fellow geek-loving friends kept telling me, “Holy shit, you haven’t seen it?!! You SHOULD! You would love it!”

So, I looked up the showtime, gave it a chance, and, well… I hated it.

I really hated it. I mean, I thought it made fun of all the stereotypes I was picked on growing up loving pop-culture with such insatiable passion. I mean, I really looked at it as sort-of the “geek” version of The Jersey Shore.

And I was done.

But I guess I gave it a second chance. And somewhere along the way, I fell in love with the show. And I can’t get enough of it. But, where am I going with all of this? Well, CBS recently announced that, whether you hate the show, or love it, it’s coming back next season.

But not just next season, it’s been renewed not for just one season, but THREE!

That’s right, The Big Bang Theory is coming back for 3 seasons, and that will take it into 10 seasons. And I couldn’t be more excited.

Are you?

I think we can all pretty much agree the Roland Emmerich ‘Godzilla’ sucked a lot of ass. But the more I see of this remake, the more I CAN’T WAIT! Yahoo! recently released a new poster for the film, and looks like Legendary, and the filmmakers are doing it right!

‘Godzilla’ opens May 16th.

Rupert Sanders to Direct Live-Action GHOST IN THE SHELL?

So Rupert Sanders, director of the shitbox, Snow White and the Huntsman, is reportedly signed on to direct one greatest pieces of manga that is Ghost in the Shell, as a live-action film…

…that sound you were heard was my eyes rolling. Yes, I know eyes don’t make sounds… until NOW! That’s how much I couldn’t be less excited about this news.

Being a huge fan of Japanese pop-culture since I was a kid, I’ve been disappointed time and time again by Hollywood’s attempt at adapting manga and anime properties into live-action films. And getting the director of Snow White to direct one of my favorite manga… it’s hurts a special place inside my body.

FANTASTIC FOUR Reboot May Take a New Take on Origin?

Fantastic-Four-Terry-DodsonSo it’s no secret with Disney’s purchase of MARVEL, and MARVEL themselves producing a pretty solid and entertaining movie universe, other studios are holding on to their MARVEL film rights with the strongest of death-grips.
A lot of times with these deals, if you don’t make another film with-in a certain amount of time, the rights revert back to the owner. Next up in the death-grip hold? FOX is prepping a reboot of their FANTASTIC FOUR film franchise. Sure that’s no secret, but director Josh Trank’s take on the whole thing may completely rewrite the origin story of the fantastic family. And this has quite a fanboys in a uproar.

As far as I’m concerned, to the hard-core fans, get over it.

Let’s remember, the origin of the Fantastic family is campy as hell. Let’s think about it: a boyfriend, a girlfriend, a brother, and a best friend go into space only to get hit with cosmic rays, and get superpowers.

That shit is campy, sure may have worked in the ’60s, and even though FOX tried to keep true to it by trying to modernize it with their first attempt… I think we all can pretty much agree it didn’t work.

So, let’s get over it. Sure, at least for me, FOX doesn’t have my confidence with comic movies… especially with MARVEL titles. Bryan Singer “X” movies not withstanding. But I can definitely appreciate needing to rethink how to approach a film. So I am personally intrigued to see where this goes if reports ring true about the change.

How about you?

Doing our best to give you that Geek-Love rash from the interwebs!
