“Give me a moment, won’t you friend. I’ve never been on trial for my thoughts before.” We recently saw the release of the trailer for THE TRIAL OF THE CHICAGO 7, the new film from Aaron Sorkin. A film that’s slated for Netflix. And while I will always LOVE ME SOME SORKIN, this trailer was definitely a little hard to watch, as I felt it really reflects the world we’re living in now.
Check out the trailer below.
If you’re not familiar with the this moment in history, here’s a quick synopsis for the film. But definitely encourage you to look up the history for yourselves.
What was intended to be a peaceful protest at the 1968 Democratic National Convention turned into a violent clash with police and the National Guard. The organizers of the protest—including Abbie Hoffman, Jerry Rubin, Tom Hayden and Bobby Seale—were charged with conspiracy to incite a riot and the trial that followed was one of the most notorious in history.
Like pretty much everything Aaron Sorkin has touched, this film looks amazing on so many levels. And the fact that is supported by such an amazing cast, including: Sacha Baron Cohen, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Frank Langella, Eddie Redmayne, Mark Rylance, Jeremy Strong, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Michael Keaton, John Carroll Lynch and Alex Sharp, only adds to the anticipation for it’s release.
THE TRIAL OF THE CHICAGO 7 will hit Netflix & select theatres on October 16th.
