REVIEW: ‘COLOSSAL’, A Movie You Should Definitely See!

Honestly I knew nothing about this movie going in. Well, that’s not entirely true, I knew next to nothing. All I had was a random bit I happened across where you see Anne Hathaway motioning to Jason Sudeikis in the movie to show she’s controlling the monster.

When I saw that, don’t know what it was that sparked, but I was all, “I don’t know what you are, but I must WATCH YOU!”

And I am so glad I did. Because the movie is INCREDIBLE!

But by happenstance, if you still have no idea what I’m talking about when I’m talking about the movie COLOSSAL, here’s a quick rundown:

Gloria (Anne Hathaway) drinks too hard and parties too much. Her boyfriend has enough of it and throws her out. Gloria returns to her hometown, dreaming of making a new start, but instead revives her childhood friendship with Oscar (Jason Sudeikis), who runs a bar. After drinking a night away with Oscar and his friends, she wakes up to discover a gigantic monster rampaging through Seoul and realizes that somehow the monster is connected to her.

Basically this movie is a kick-ass kaiju movie, by the way of the old GODZILLA flicks. But at the same time it has all the character, emotion and wit you’d find in an indie pic that you really don’t see as much in cinema anymore.

It’s a really weird combination. But it works SO WELL! And it definitely makes for a unique movie. If you haven’t seen this, I really can’t recommend it enough. But if you see it and don’t like it? Well, I don’t know what to tell you. Go watch THE FATE OF THE FURIOUS?
